Welcome to Project Blackjack

Project Blackjack aims to replace the statues in the two niches on the north-west and south-west of the tower of the Church of St John Baptist in the centre of Cirencester.

The project team,, commissioned by the PCC, has appointed a sculptor, Rodney Munday, to create the statues (more details of the process can be found under Blogs). There is an ongoing campaign to fund raise for the statues, which should be completed in early summer and installed ready for a Blessing by Bishop Rachel on 5th September 2021.

After three years of planning and preparation, the two bronze statues of St John the Baptist and Virgin and Child arrive in Cirencester ready to be installed in the church tower. Replacing those removed, in 1963 and lost in the mid-1960s, the statues have been designed by Rodney Munday and cast in bronze.
